2017 Instructor Spotlights

Breeze Cates

December 2017

Breeze Cates is a native of Birmingham, Al. She will gladly tell you that yoga saved her life. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she found herself with a body, and mind, filled with unexpected challenges.

Implementing a daily yoga practice, to help combat the stress, and pain, of the disease was the next step in her journey.

In 2010, Breeze began practicing Bhakti Yoga. She found Bhakti yoga, or devotional yoga, to be the perfect entrance into the expansive practice.

Singing, chanting, and meditation, became her chosen path of healing.

Breeze, not only found healing in Bhakti yoga, she found her life’s path. In 2013, the legs that once needed a cane to carry her, walked her right into the local yoga studio. Teacher training was soon to follow.

Her classes focus on both Pranayama and the Asanas. She teaches a steady balance of the two, bringing stillness to both body and mind.  With an undeniable southern accent, Breeze can be heard instructing her students to, "Breathe Y'all".  She believes in breath, and the life-changing, power that Yoga has to offer. I would love for you to join me for a class on Mondays at 6pm,  Wednesdays at 6pm(starting in January) & on an occasional weekend.

“That first breath in, that is Yoga. This practice is yours, it will heal you, it will make you smile..."

Natalie Johnston

November 2017

My name is Natalie and I started teaching power vinyasa and sports yoga at North Dodge this year. I have been a physical therapist for 17 years and love to promote health awareness for improved quality of life. I also help to guide clients through a weight loss program that promotes optimal health. For more information on the health coaching and weight loss program please email me directly at

A few interests besides trying to keep up with our 3 children include: hiking trips through Rocky Mountain National Park or the Southern Utah national parks with the family, and gardening during the summer. I enjoy swimming, biking, and running for exercise with a marathon, a few half marathons, and a few triathlons in my past.

As a Physical Therapist, I look for ways to help people improve their function with less pain. In our society we have a lot of anxiety associated with many aspects of our busy lives that can manifest in or exacerbate physical symptoms in our body. I saw that yoga offered unique strengthening and stretching strategies along with tools to help us slow down and appreciate life. This is why I set out to become a yoga instructor. Come try it out! Current class on the schedule is Wednesday evenings at 6pm.

Jay Kambhu

October 2017

I started teaching group fitness classes in the late 70s. Over the years I have gained experience teaching a variety of classes ranging from freestyle, Les Mills, cycling, yoga and my most recent adventure is pilates.

Pilates is an amazing method of physical and mental exercises, involving the development of strength, balance, flexibility and inner awareness. I have a passion for fitness and enjoy sharing it with others. I believe every challenge you face is an opportunity to practice your confidence and become stronger. It starts from within.

I'm currently teaching a pilates-based Cardio Core Boot camp class on Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m. and Mat Pilates on Fridays at 8:30 a.m. Hope to see you there.

Jacque Messerli

September 2017

My name is Jacque Messerli and I teach Les Mills BodyStep and BodyPump.  After struggling with chronic illness for years, I began attending the gym in 2014.  I wanted to do everything I could to be strong for my husband and children.  In the last few years I have seen how having a regular fitness routine has improved so many aspects of my life - weight, tone, mood, marriage, parenting, etc.

A friend of mine encouraged me to become an instructor.   I decided to become a fitness instructor because I wanted to encourage others to make positive changes in their lives.  I have been certified in BodyStep since February 2017 and BodyPump since April 2017.  I love the strength and toning that comes from doing BodyPump, and the cardio burn from BodyStep is amazing.  I love group fitness because it lets everyone encourage and uplift those around them.

I have been married to my husband, Matt, for 9 years, and we have two children, Eva and Daniel.  We enjoy spending time together as a family, being active, watching sports, and playing games. I love working out, reading, spending time with family and friends, and cooking. Please join me for a BodyPump or BodyStep class on the weekends!

Katie Buswell

August 2017

Katie took her first yoga class in 2004 and fell in love with it immediately. Since then, she has focused on her own practice and also shared the practice of yoga with many individuals. Her students have found her yoga classes to be a great workout, while also providing an opportunity to slow down, relax, and practice mindfulness techniques.

Staying flexible in your body, as well as your mind, is one benefit from yoga that she is grateful for and hopes to share with others. Katie also teaches Barre, which is a combination of dance, yoga, pilates, and resistance training. All of her classes are challenging, fun, and creative. Please come try one of her classes. She currently teaches Barre on Tuesdays at noon, yoga on Thursdays at 10:45 am & 6 pm & rotates on weekends.

Erin Hill

July 2017

I am a newer instructor at NDAC but I have been teaching various formats of fitness classes for several years. I am certified in Les Mills body pump, RPM, and most recently SPRINT which is basically a 30 min. high intensity interval training (HITT) workout using the bike as a tool. I really enjoy being an instructor and the relationships with other members. SPRINT is currently my favorite format class to teach as I love to push members past their perceived limits.

My husband Brad and I have been married for 16 years next month and we have 3 kids; Carter (age 9), Addyson (age 7), and Rylee (age 4). My first "baby" is our Yorkshire terrier, Maximus. We love to spend family time together watching movies, playing games and doing anything together outdoors. We recently returned from a fun vacation to Georgia and Florida. I work from home teaching psychology classes online for a community college. I would love to get back into doing clinical work once my youngest starts school. I currently teach a SPRINT/strength core combo class on Thursdays at 5:30 a.m. & would love to see you there!

Kelly Winegar

June 2017

I have been teaching spin at NDAC for (I think!) 18 years. I love it! I love the music, it makes the hour fly by! I also love how many calories I can burn in that hour :-). The most rewarding thing for me as an instructor is having someone new join the class, and watching them gain strength and endurance over the next few weeks!

I have been married to my husband, Troy for almost 33 years. We have three kids, Tyler is 29; and we have twins Tate and Brie who are 24. Brie will be marrying Nick this July. We also have two dogs, Jack and Bodee. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends; walking my dogs along Lake McBride near our home. I also love traveling, boating and snowmobiling. I currently teach Tuesday's at Noon, Wednesday's at 8:30am & Thursday's at Noon. I would love to have you come try one of my classes!

Amy Finley

May 2017

I have two daughters who keep me very busy. If we are not traveling around Midwest to a gymnastics meet were carpooling kids to practice.

So in my spare time I teach group fitness classes. :) I started doing Les Mills BodyPump right after my first daughter was born and she is now 12, so it's been awhile. I became an instructor about 4 years ago because I wanted to help people be stronger and fitter and for me BodyPump was where it was at!! I knew that if I went to this class I would always get a good work out no matter what and always felt the instructor would motivate me to keep going. I quickly fell in love with BodyPump as I saw the results and felt great. I bring this motivation with me now as I teach the class. There is nothing more rewarding than having a member come up to you after class and tell you thanks for a great workout.

I am also certified in Les Mills BodyFlow and Grit which are great additions to BodyPump class. Come see me on Wednesdays at 9:35 a.m. for BodyPump and on weekends—I also sub BodyFlow from time-to-time.

Traci loves that she continual gets to teach her yogis and offer them a space to not only workout but also find a balance between health and everyday life. When she's not teaching she's busy working in the project management field, spending time with her family, and reading.

Molly Adams-Kuhlmann

January 2017

After many years as a group fitness enthusiast, Molly Adams became certified to teach BodyStep in 2015, followed by BodyPump shortly thereafter. She loves group fitness because it's motivating to work out with others in a fun environment.

When not hanging out in the gym, Molly can be found running the sidewalks of Iowa City, working her "real job" as a pharmacist, or being an Uber driver for her two active daughters. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Don't be afraid of the step, it's a lot of fun and a great workout! Join Molly for a BodyStep class soon! She teaches on Thursday mornings at 8:30am & weekends!
